Ethernet / LAN Temperature Data Loggers

An Ethernet data logger is a temperature or temperature and humidity monitor that connects to your network with a LAN cable instead of Wi-Fi or a mobile SIM. Ideabytes IoT makes six Ethernet models in India for IT, facilities and QA teams in data centres, laboratories and factories with wired networks. Every unit has an RJ45 10/100 port, a display, an IP64 wall-mountable enclosure, 90 days of internal storage and battery backup, and reports to web and mobile apps with live alerts and 21 CFR Part 11 compliant PDF reports. Options cover built-in and external probes, dual channel and -200 °C to +350 °C.

Why choose a wired LAN data logger

A wired connection is the most predictable link a logger can have. There is no Wi-Fi password to change, no signal fading behind a steel rack or a cold-room wall, and no SIM plan to renew. The logger sits on a network port your IT team already manages, so it can be placed on the right VLAN and monitored like any other device.

A LAN data logger also takes the monitoring system out of the list of things that break when someone changes the Wi-Fi. In audits, a device that has been on the same wired port for years with a continuous record is easy to defend. That makes an Ethernet temperature data logger the natural choice in places where Wi-Fi is either weak or not allowed.

  • Data centres and server rooms, where every rack already has a patch panel nearby
  • Laboratories and QC labs with a no-Wi-Fi policy for instruments
  • Factories and plants with a wired LAN on the shop floor
  • Cold rooms and stores with thick insulated walls that block wireless signals
  • Hospitals and pharma sites where IT prefers wired devices on a separate network segment

Ethernet temperature data logger models: built-in, external probe and dual channel

All six models connect over LAN Ethernet RJ45 10/100 and share the same core hardware: a 1.3 inch 128 x 64 OLED display, an internal 2600 mAh Li-ion battery with under and over-voltage protection giving up to 20 hours of backup during a power failure, a DC 5 V / 1 A input, a plug-and-play wall-mountable IP64 rated enclosure, and internal storage for 90 days of readings at a 15 minute sampling interval.

Temperature accuracy is ±0.5 °C between -10 °C and +50 °C with 0.1 °C resolution. External probes are purchased separately, and cable length can be customised at extra charge.

  • IBI-ET120: single channel, -50 °C to +120 °C
  • IBI-ET350: single channel RTD PT100, -200 °C to +350 °C (optional range)
  • IBI-ETD120: dual channel, -50 °C to +120 °C on each channel
  • IBI-ETH50: built-in sensor, 0 °C to +50 °C and 0 to 100 % RH at ±2 % RH
  • IBI-ETH70: -20 °C to +70 °C and 0 to 99 % RH non-condensing at ±3 % RH
  • IBI-ETH120: -40 °C to +120 °C and 0 to 100 % RH condensing at ±2 % RH

Ethernet temperature and humidity data logger for server rooms

Server rooms fail slowly and then suddenly: a CRAC unit trips, a door is left open or a rack runs hot, and by the time someone notices, equipment is throttling or shutting down. A server room temperature monitor on the LAN catches the rise early and sends an alert before it becomes an outage.

The IBI-ETH50 with its built-in sensor suits ambient monitoring of the room, while the IBI-ETH70 and IBI-ETH120 take an external probe that can be placed at the hot aisle, the top of a rack or the supply air. Humidity readings help you avoid both static risk from dry air and condensation from damp air. Our server room monitoring page explains how to place sensors across a room.

Reports, alerts and audit trail

Ethernet loggers report to the Ideabytes web and mobile apps for iOS and Android, giving real-time visibility of every device. Depending on the software plan, you get live alerts and app push notifications, SMS alerts, alarm logs, trend graphs, scheduled and on-demand reports, MKT values, an audit trail, CAPA records and 21 CFR Part 11 compliant PDF reports. Data is polled every 15 minutes by default, and the interval is configurable.

If the network or the server goes down, the logger keeps recording to its internal memory and the battery keeps it running through a power cut of up to 20 hours, so the record stays continuous for audits.

Ethernet vs Wi-Fi vs 4G: which connectivity to pick

Choose Ethernet when there is a network port within reach and your IT team prefers wired devices. Choose Wi-Fi when cabling is impractical but the site Wi-Fi is dependable. Choose 4G with a built-in M2M SIM when there is no site network at all, when the logger must work independently of IT, or when the equipment is remote. The same software, reports and alerts are available across all three, so a site can mix them.

A common pattern is Ethernet loggers in the server room and QC lab, Wi-Fi loggers in offices and pharmacies, and 4G loggers in the cold store at the back of the site and in vehicles. Everything reports to one dashboard, with one set of users, alarm rules and reports, so the connectivity choice can be made point by point rather than for the whole site.

Buying Ethernet data loggers in India

Ideabytes IoT has built data loggers since 2009, with manufacturing in India and development in Hyderabad, and is registered on GeM for government and PSU buyers. The temperature-only Ethernet models carry HSN code 90251990 and the temperature and humidity models 90258090 in their listing.

For a quote, share the number of rooms or points, whether you need humidity, the probe positions and cable lengths, and your IT requirements for network devices. NABL-traceable calibration certificates are available on request.

Frequently asked questions

Are the Ethernet data loggers PoE powered?

The published specification lists a DC 5 V / 1 A input and an RJ45 10/100 LAN port. PoE availability is confirmed on request, so if your site needs a PoE temperature sensor, tell us when you ask for a quote and our team will confirm what is possible for your installation.

What happens if the LAN or server goes down?

The logger keeps recording. Every Ethernet model stores 90 days of readings at a 15 minute sampling interval, and its internal 2600 mAh battery gives up to 20 hours of backup during a power failure. The stored data fills the gap once the connection returns, so the record stays continuous for audits.

Which Ethernet logger should I use as a server room temperature monitor?

For general room monitoring, the IBI-ETH50 has a built-in temperature and humidity sensor covering 0 °C to +50 °C. If you want to measure at a rack, a hot aisle or the supply air, the IBI-ETH70 or IBI-ETH120 take an external probe. For two temperature points on one unit, use the dual-channel IBI-ETD120.

Can an Ethernet logger measure very high or very low temperatures?

Yes. The IBI-ET350 uses an RTD PT100 sensor with an optional range of -200 °C to +350 °C, which suits ovens, process lines and cryogenic storage. The IBI-ET120 and IBI-ETD120 cover -50 °C to +120 °C, which suits freezers, cold rooms and most lab equipment.

How much does an Ethernet temperature data logger cost?

Price depends on the model, whether you need humidity, the number and type of probes, cable lengths, calibration certificates and the software plan for alerts and reports. A server room with one built-in sensor costs much less than a lab with several probe points. Request a quote with your layout and we will size the system.

Can I buy Ethernet data loggers on GeM in India?

Yes. Ideabytes IoT is registered on GeM, so government, PSU and public-sector hospital buyers can procure through the portal. The temperature-only models are listed under HSN 90251990 and the temperature and humidity models under 90258090. NABL-traceable calibration certificates are available on request.
