Multi-Channel PT100 Temperature Data Loggers (2, 4 & 8 Channel)
A multi-channel temperature data logger records several temperature probes from one instrument, so a single unit can watch a freezer bank, a furnace zone or every corner of a mapping study. Ideabytes IoT makes 2, 4 and 8 channel loggers in India for QA managers, validation engineers and plant maintenance teams. The 4 and 8 channel models accept PT100 or PT1000 RTD probes in 2, 3 or 4-wire configuration and measure from -200 °C to +550 °C at 0.05 % of full scale. Choose Wi-Fi, 4G with a built-in M2M SIM, or standalone logging, with 21 CFR Part 11 compliant PDF reports available on every model.

When one multi-channel temperature logger beats several single loggers
Every monitoring point needs a probe, but it does not need its own logger. When the points sit within cable reach of each other, one 8 channel data logger replaces eight separate instruments: one power supply, one network connection, one display to check on a round and one device to calibrate, register and maintain. The cost per monitoring point falls as the channel count rises, and all eight readings share one timestamp, which makes comparisons between zones straightforward.
Single-channel loggers still make sense when points are far apart, in different rooms or on different circuits. A multi-channel logger is the better choice when the points are clustered around one asset or one space.
- Temperature mapping and qualification studies, where many probes must log on the same clock
- Multi-zone laboratories: incubators, stability chambers, fridges and freezers on one bench
- Furnaces, ovens and heat-treatment lines that need readings at several points in the chamber
- Autoclaves and sterilisers, alongside the validated process controller
- Cold rooms and blast freezers with separate readings for the evaporator, door and product zone
PT100 and PT1000 RTD inputs: what the 4 and 8 channel models measure
The 4 channel and 8 channel models (IBI-WTR4, IBI-WTR8, IBI-MTR4, IBI-MTR8, IBI-OTR4 and IBI-OTR8) are RTD data loggers. Each input accepts a PT100 probe in 2, 3 or 4-wire configuration, with PT1000 2, 3 or 4-wire as an option. The measuring range is -200 °C to +550 °C for both PT100 and PT1000, which covers cryogenic storage at one end and ovens, dryers and process lines at the other, making these the high temperature data loggers in the range.
Accuracy is 0.5 °C (0.05 % of full scale). A 2.4 inch 128 x 64 OLED graphical display shows the channels at the device, and the loggers run from a DC 5 V / 1 A supply with an internal 8000 mAh Li-ion battery that gives up to 18 hours of backup during a power failure. The housing measures 85 x 60 x 25 mm and weighs about 120 g with the battery.
Probes are purchased separately, so you can pick the probe type and length for each point. Sensor cable length can be customised at extra charge.
Dual-channel 120 models for fridge and freezer pairs
Many sites only need two points: a refrigerator and its freezer compartment, a pair of vaccine fridges, or supply and return air in a cold room. The dual-channel models log two probes from -50 °C to +120 °C each, with ±0.5 °C accuracy between -10 °C and +50 °C and 0.1 °C resolution.
They come with Wi-Fi (IBI-WTD120), 4G M2M (IBI-MTD120), Ethernet (IBI-ETD120) or as a standalone offline logger. Each has a 1.3 inch OLED display, an IP64 rated wall-mountable enclosure and internal storage for 90 days of readings at a 15 minute sampling interval, so a short network outage does not leave a gap in the record.
Wi-Fi, 4G or standalone: choosing connectivity for a multi-channel logger
The WTR series connects over Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n at 2.4 GHz and suits labs, warehouses and plants with reliable site Wi-Fi. The MTR series uses 4G LTE Cat 1 with an in-built M2M SIM, so it needs no site network or IT approval and works in remote plants, cold stores and sites where the Wi-Fi does not reach. The OTR series is standalone: it logs locally and you download data when you need it.
All 4 and 8 channel models store up to 40,000 records in memory if the network drops. CSV reports can be downloaded directly from the logger by connecting a computer or mobile over Wi-Fi, or with a USB cable. Depending on the software plan, you also get 21 CFR Part 11 compliant PDF reports, MKT values, audit trail, alarm logs, trend graphs and CAPA records, with data polled every 15 minutes by default.
Using a multi-channel temperature logger for mapping and validation
Warehouse and cold-room mapping is where channel count matters most. A mapping study places probes at different heights, near doors, near HVAC outlets and in the expected hot and cold spots, then records them together for a defined period. With 8 channels per logger, a small store can be mapped with a handful of units, and every reading carries the same timestamp and audit trail.
For a step-by-step method, read our pharmaceutical warehouse temperature mapping protocol guide, and see the warehouse monitoring page for how the same loggers stay in place for routine monitoring after the study. For qualification work, order calibration certificates with the loggers so the probe accuracy is documented before the study starts.
Buying multi-channel data loggers in India
Ideabytes IoT has built data loggers since 2009, with manufacturing in India and a development centre in Hyderabad. We are registered on GeM, a QCI-approved OEM and a DOT-approved M2M service provider, which matters for the 4G models with built-in SIMs. The 4 and 8 channel loggers are listed under HSN code 90251990.
When you ask for a quote, tell us the number of points, the probe type and length for each, the connectivity you prefer and whether you need calibration certificates. NABL-traceable calibration certificates are available on request. Our team will recommend the channel mix, for example one 8 channel unit or two 4 channel units, that fits your layout.

Frequently asked questions
Do you make a 16 channel data logger?
The largest single unit in the range has 8 channels. For 16 points or more, use two 8 channel loggers, or a mix of 8 and 4 channel units, reporting to the same Ideabytes dashboard. Readings from every unit appear together with a shared timeline, alarms and reports, so a 16 channel installation behaves like one system even though it uses two devices.
Can I connect thermocouples to these multi-channel loggers?
No. The 4 and 8 channel models are RTD data loggers with PT100 inputs (2, 3 or 4-wire) and optional PT1000 inputs. They do not list thermocouple inputs. PT100 probes cover -200 °C to +550 °C on these loggers, which suits most process, lab and cold-chain work. If you have an existing thermocouple installation, share the details and our team will advise.
What accuracy does an 8 channel PT100 data logger give?
The IBI-WTR8, IBI-MTR8 and IBI-OTR8 specify 0.5 °C accuracy, stated as 0.05 % of full scale, across a PT100 or PT1000 range of -200 °C to +550 °C. Overall system accuracy also depends on the probe class and cable you choose, so order calibration certificates for the logger and probes together when the data will be used for validation.
How much does a multi-channel temperature data logger cost?
Price depends on the channel count, the connectivity (Wi-Fi, 4G with built-in SIM or standalone), the number and type of PT100 probes, cable lengths, calibration certificates and the software plan. Because probes are purchased separately, two quotes for the same logger can differ a lot. Request a quote with your point count and layout and we will size the system.
Is a multi-channel logger suitable for warehouse temperature mapping?
Yes. Mapping needs many probes logging on the same clock, which is exactly what a 4 or 8 channel logger provides. Each unit stores up to 40,000 records if the network drops, and reports include trend graphs, MKT values and an audit trail depending on the software plan. Order calibration certificates before the study so probe accuracy is on file.
Are these loggers available on GeM, and what is the HSN code?
Ideabytes IoT is registered on GeM, so government and PSU buyers in India can procure through the portal. The 4 and 8 channel PT100 loggers carry HSN code 90251990 in their model listing. NABL-traceable calibration certificates are available on request, and our team can share the specification sheet in the format your tender requires.
