Comprehensive range of data loggers and IoT monitoring solutions
A data logger is an electronic device that measures a parameter such as temperature, humidity or CO2 at set intervals and stores each reading with a time stamp, so you have a continuous record rather than occasional manual checks. An IoT data logger goes further and sends those readings to the cloud for live alerts and audit-ready reports. Ideabytes IoT has designed and manufactured data loggers in India since 2009 for pharma, cold chain, healthcare, laboratory and food businesses. The range covers Wi-Fi, 4G M2M, Ethernet, USB, Bluetooth and standalone loggers, plus IoT sensors and MODBUS gateways, all backed by 21 CFR Part 11 compliant software.

What is a data logger and what Ideabytes makes
Every data logger has three parts: a sensor that measures, memory that stores readings with a date and time, and a way to get the data out. Older loggers were read by plugging them into a computer after the event. A connected data logger system uploads readings as they happen, so a freezer that fails at 2 a.m. raises an alarm before stock is lost, and the record needed for an audit builds itself.
Ideabytes IoT designs its loggers, firmware and cloud platform in-house, with headquarters in Ottawa, Canada, a development centre in Hyderabad and manufacturing in India. The catalogue spans single and dual-channel temperature loggers, temperature and humidity loggers, 4 and 8-channel PT100 loggers, GPS loggers for transport, IoT sensors, MODBUS gateways and customised room-parameter logging systems.
Data loggers by connectivity
Connectivity decides how readings leave the device and is usually the first choice to make. Each type has its own category page.
- Wi-Fi data loggers: use the site network on 2.4 GHz for real-time monitoring of fridges, freezers, cold rooms and labs.
- 4G M2M data loggers: a built-in M2M SIM, so they work where there is no Wi-Fi or where IT will not allow devices on the network.
- Ethernet data loggers: a wired LAN RJ45 connection for server rooms, cleanrooms and sites that prefer cable over wireless.
- USB data loggers: low-cost loggers that generate an encrypted PDF report when plugged in, with no extra software.
- Standalone (offline) data loggers: record to internal memory, with data downloaded over local Wi-Fi or USB, for air-gapped sites.
- Bluetooth data logger: the IBI-BTH70 for temperature and humidity, read with a mobile app at up to 300 metres in long-range mode.
Data loggers by measurement
Choose by what you measure and over what range. Temperature data loggers run from -50°C to +120°C with standard probes and down to -200°C with PT100 probes for ultra-low freezers and process equipment. Temperature and humidity loggers add relative humidity for warehouses, pharmacies and stability areas. Multi-channel PT100 loggers watch 4 or 8 points from one unit. GPS temperature data loggers add location for reefer trucks and vans. IoT sensors cover RS485 MODBUS temperature, humidity and CO2, and MODBUS gateways read existing cold room controllers, Dixell controllers and energy meters.
Custom requirements are handled too. The Wi-Fi and 4G customised room-parameter logging systems (IBI-WC-X and IBI-MC-X) are configured to the room parameters a site needs, with the same live alerts and reports. The Wi-Fi, 4G and Ethernet families all report into one cloud platform, so a site can mix connectivity and still work from one dashboard and one set of reports.
Data logger with software: cloud dashboard, alerts and reports
A logger is only as useful as the software behind it. Connected Ideabytes loggers report into a cloud platform with web and mobile apps for iOS and Android, dashboard, map and list views, and user and device management. Alerts arrive as app push notifications and, optionally, SMS when a reading crosses a limit or a device goes offline. The platform produces 21 CFR Part 11 compliant PDF reports on demand or on a daily, weekly or monthly schedule, with audit trail, alarm log, trend graphs, mean kinetic temperature (MKT) and CAPA records. The default polling interval is 15 minutes and can be changed. Connected loggers keep readings in internal memory (90 days at 15-minute sampling on many models) and carry a rechargeable battery, so a network or power cut does not leave a gap in the record. Software features are offered in plans, so the sales team will match a plan to your audit needs.
Who uses a temperature monitoring device
The same core requirement, a trustworthy continuous record, runs through very different sites. What changes is the range, the number of points, the audit that applies and how quickly someone must act on an alarm, which is why the range is organised by connectivity and measurement rather than by industry.
- Pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors and warehouses working to GDP and 21 CFR Part 11.
- Cold chain and logistics operators moving vaccines, medicines and food.
- Hospitals, pharmacies, blood banks and vaccine storage points.
- Laboratories, research centres and stability chambers.
- Food processing, retail and cold storage businesses following HACCP and FSSAI requirements.
- Agriculture, greenhouses and data centres that need environmental monitoring.
Compliance and calibration
The product listings carry FDA 21 CFR Part 11, CE, FCC and IC compliance, and reports include the electronic audit trail and alarm history that inspectors check first. NABL-traceable calibration certificates are available on request, which most Indian auditors expect for GMP, GDP, NABH and FSSAI inspections. Plan recalibration once a year, or sooner if your SOP requires it.
For regulated users the software matters as much as the hardware. User management, an electronic audit trail, alarm logs and CAPA records for each excursion are what turn a wireless data logger into evidence that stands up in an inspection. Ask for a demonstration of the audit trail and a sample report before you shortlist.
Made in India: GeM, HSN codes and how to buy
Ideabytes IoT is GeM registered, a QCI-approved OEM and a DOT-approved M2M service provider, so government hospitals, research institutes and PSUs can buy through the Government e-Marketplace, and 4G loggers come with connectivity supplied. The HSN code for each product is shown with its model number, which keeps purchase orders and GST invoices straightforward.
To buy, shortlist models by connectivity and measurement using the categories above, or compare products side by side. Then request a quote or book an Expert Check, and the team will confirm probes, quantities, software plan and calibration before you order. Five questions narrow most requirements to two or three models, and the answers also make a GeM bid or an internal capex note easier to defend.
- What are you measuring, and over what range? A 2°C to 8°C vaccine fridge, a -80°C freezer and a warehouse at 15°C to 25°C need different probes.
- How many points per location? One logger per fridge, or a multi-channel logger when several probes sit close together.
- Is there reliable Wi-Fi or LAN, or does the logger need its own 4G connection?
- Do you need live alerts, or is a record reviewed after the event enough?
- Which audit applies: 21 CFR Part 11, GDP, NABH, FSSAI or HACCP? This decides the report set and software plan.
Frequently asked questions
What is a data logger?
A data logger is a device that measures parameters such as temperature, humidity or CO2 at fixed intervals and stores each reading with a time stamp. Connected data loggers also send readings to the cloud for live alerts and reports. They are used wherever a continuous, audit-ready record is required, from vaccine fridges to cold rooms and reefer trucks.
Which connectivity should I choose: Wi-Fi, 4G, Ethernet or USB?
Choose Wi-Fi where site Wi-Fi is reliable, 4G M2M where there is no Wi-Fi or IT restricts the network, Ethernet for wired server rooms and cleanrooms, and USB or standalone loggers where live alerts are not needed, such as single shipments or air-gapped rooms. An Expert Check helps if you have a mix of sites.
How much does a data logger cost?
The cost depends on the connectivity, the number of channels, the probe and range, the quantity and the software plan for alerts and 21 CFR Part 11 reports. A USB logger is the lowest-cost option and multi-channel 4G loggers sit at the other end. Share your application and number of monitoring points for an exact quote.
What is the HSN code and GST rate for a temperature data logger?
Most Ideabytes temperature data loggers are listed under HSN 90251990, and the HSN code for every product is shown with its model number. The GST rate follows the HSN classification in force on the invoice date, so confirm it with your finance team or on the quotation.
Do the data loggers come with a calibration certificate?
NABL-traceable calibration certificates are available on request for every logger. Most pharma, hospital and food auditors in India expect a current certificate for each logger and annual recalibration, so ask for certificates with your order and diarise the renewal date.
Can I buy Ideabytes data loggers on GeM?
Yes. Ideabytes IoT is registered on the Government e-Marketplace, so government hospitals, research institutes, universities and PSUs can buy through GeM. Share the specification you need and the team will point you to the matching listing or help you frame the requirement.
Is a data logger the same as a temperature monitoring system?
A data logger is the device that measures and records. A temperature monitoring system is loggers plus software: the cloud dashboard, alerts, user management and compliance reports. Ideabytes connected loggers are supplied with that software, so a single logger or a site-wide network works as a complete monitoring system.
